How Military Drones are Changing the World

Presented by Dan Gettinger,
Co-director, Center for the Study of the Drone

Once a novelty, drones have become standard military equipment around the world. From troubled conflict zones around the world to domestic natural disasters, military drones are playing an increasingly prominent role. Dan Gettinger will present a crash course in the history and present-day applications of military drones. He will present some of the latest, original research by the Center for the Study of the Drone and lead a discussion on the consequences of military drone proliferation.

Dan Gettinger is the founder and co-director of the Center for the Study of the Drone, a research and education institution at Bard College. He is a non-resident fellow at the Modern War Institute at West Point and an expert at the Forum on the Arms Trade. He is the author of The Drone Databook, an encyclopedic assessment of the military drone capabilities of over 100 countries.

The Center for the Study of the Drone at Bard College is an interdisciplinary research institution that examines the novel and complex opportunities and challenges presented by unmanned systems technologies in both the military and civilian sphere. Visit the Center at dronecenter.bard.edu.
