The Village of New Preston will be celebrating the joy of summer for children during the annual Summer Stroll, Saturday July 7th, with a village wide effort to raise money to send children to the ASAP Summer Camp. Participating businesses will be donating a percentage of their sales on that day to pay tuition to ASAP Summer Camp, for children in need. At ASAP Camp, now in its 18th year, children ages 4.5-17 come to play, make friends, explore their creativity, connect with nature, become inventors and discover something new. Voted # one Cultural Arts Organization in Northwest CT, ASAP Summer Camp is a full day camp like no other in the area. They offer a comprehensive art experience led by professional artists, daily adventures include visual arts, dance, drama, music, creative writing, yoga, pottery and outdoor activities. Representatives from the camp along with several children will be on hand during the stroll to talk about the camp experience.
The Summer Stroll will be a fun day for all those who come to visit this walkable village of enticing shops with just about something for everyone. Delicious treats and summer coolers will be served under umbrellas throughout the town and on the porches of the village’s historic buildings. The waterfall, the scenic wonder of the village, is always on view as you walk through town particularly from the deck and garden at Pergola and the deck at Seitz.
Sweeets will be serving Crispy Treats and DK Shulman will be celebrating its 7th year in the village with a new look! The Owl Wine Bar across the street will be welcoming guests on its shady outdoor patio.
Privet House and Privet Lives are in a summer mood serving chilled rose, lemonade, and cookies. At J. Seitz vegan sips and bites will be served and Henna Body Art by Elyse will be happening on the back deck with a portion of the proceeds going to ASAP. You can also enter the store’s raffle for a selection of products from their organic apothecary collection and check out the summer clothing sale.
Pergola will welcome guests into a cool green world of plants and garden accessories along with fantastic finds from their latest trip to Japan.
Across the street at Dawn Hill Antiques pink champagne will be bubbling as well as sparkling juice along with French macaroons in the most delicious flavors. Back by popular demand the “Social Gents Club Band” will be playing next to the store and belting out summer favorites to be heard throughout the town. The Smithy will be featuring bunches of gorgeous local flowers along with house-made cookies and Nine Main will, of course, be making their wonderful sandwiches and offering home-baked cookies.
