Heather Scofield
“Sans Walls” Exhibit

A dazzling new collection of New England landscapes by noted artist Heather Scofield will be on display at the Gunn Memorial Library’s Stairwell Gallery in Washington from July 29 through September 9.

Scofield’s paintings have been described as kinetic and bold, vibrating with color and movement. “I love to apply color thickly,” she says. “I’m not afraid to break aesthetic conventions.” Her influences include the Impressionists as well as Thomas Hart Benton and Charles Burchfield.

Even though Scofield grew up in an urban/suburban setting near Cleveland, Ohio her paintings are mostly of rural areas in Connecticut and Maine where she has lived for 20 years. “The landscapes I am intrigued by are full of color and light, of lines and shadows and of sky,” she points out. “I am especially drawn to the sculptural shapes and lines and varied colors of all trees.”

This exhibit may be viewed during library hours. For further information please call (860) or email gunndevelopment@biblio.org. The, CT.  For library hours and to learn more about Gunn’s programs and events visit.
