The Northwest Connecticut Arts Council will co-host a region-wide, free networking event – CultureMIX – on Thursday, October. Mad River Lofts is a renovated knitting mill offering modern work spaces and offices for small businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs, artists and artisans. During the CultureMIX, attendees are encouraged to learn more about Mad River Lofts and the Arts Council and to share their own connection and activities in the region’s cultural landscape. Advance registration for CultureMIX is strongly recommended.
Arts and culture lovers and creative professionals are welcome to attend CultureMIX. This includes people from the cultural community in and around the Northwest Corner, including: artists of all disciplines, artisans, historians, staff, board members, patrons, and volunteers of cultural institutions and venues. This is one in a series of successful CultureMix events co-hosted by the Arts Council and acclaimed arts and cultural institutions throughout the northwest region.
“The CultureMIX events have proven to be fun excuses for people in the cultural sector to get out of their studios and offices to reconnect and find new connections to others in the industry. Interesting and creative collaborations have been known to form as a result – you just never know,” said Amy Wynn, executive director of the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council.
Developer Marty Goldin, owner of Mad River Lofts stated, “the arts are an important part of the northwest corner and Mad River Lofts is proud to be able to co-host CultureMIX with the Arts Council. Mad River Lofts provides modern work spaces in an old mill setting. It is designed for the creative community and is intended to attract people who need their private space to work, yet would like the opportunity to collaborate in an informal environment. I think CultureMIX attendees will be intrigued by the unique approach we’ve taken to Mad River Lofts.” Special tours of Mad River Lofts are scheduled for CultureMIX attendees before the event at 4:30 pm and after the event at 7:15 pm.
The CultureMIX events, organized by the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council each year, allow people the opportunity to make new professional contacts, discover additional resources, and develop real collaborations. The Arts Council itself provides information about its newest projects and current services in addition to taking advantage of the opportunity to hear first-hand from the community about how the Council can better service the region and promote its cultural assets.
This year, the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council is adding another opportunity to showcase Members’ work during the CultureMIX- a Pop-Up Art Show which will take place during the event. Members of the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council may learn more about requirements and submission guidelines by visiting artsnwct.org or calling the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council at (860) 618-0075.
