Back by popular demand, St John’s “Sundays Live At Five” Concert Series will present The Escher Quartet. The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. A former BBC New Generation Artist, the Quartet is a regular guest at Wigmore Hall. In its hometown of New York, the ensemble serves as Artists of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, recently presenting the complete Zemlinsky Quartets Cycle in a concert streamed live from the Rose Studio.
Within months of its formation in 2005, the quartet was invited by both Pinchas Zukerman and Itzak Perlman to be the Quartet in Residence at each artist’s summer festival.
The Quartet takes its name from the Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher, inspired by Escher’s method of interplay between individual components working together to form a whole.
The Escher Quartet, who last year captivated the Concert Series’ audience with its stunning performance, is back by universal demand with a program of works by Hadyn, Kurtag and Beethoven.
