Art in the Making
At Flanders

Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust will host plein air painters from all over New England at their main campus, the Van Vleck Sanctuary in Woodbury.

Painters will be sketching views of buildings, meadows, forested ponds, and more in the historic setting. Area art collectors and visitors are welcome to tour the nature center, see art in the making, and speak with the artists of Oil Painters of America and Pomperaug Outdoor Painters as they sketch the beautiful landscape. Artists will have paintings for sale at their easels. The artists will donate a portion of all painting sales to benefit Flanders’ mission of the preservation of land and providing environmental education programs for all ages. In addition to plein air artists sketching on site, the art studio of Natalie Van Vleck will be open to visitors. Van Vleck was an early Modernist painter and founder of Flanders. Several of her original works are exhibited there.

There is no charge for attending and parking is available in the gravel lot at the intersection of Flanders Road and 5 Church Hill Road in Woodbury.

Saturday, September 16, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Rain date: Sunday, September 17
